Über die Universität:
The university building is a modern one including good technical equipment. The rooms though are rather small and the course is split up into 2 groups which makes it easier to establish more personal contact with professors and fellow students. What impressed me most is the readiness of people to co-operate and help each other. Another thing which was interesting to notice is that everyone in Rotterdam speaks good English - from the very young ones to the elderly people.

The people from the International Office of the university (situated on the 4th floor) are ready to answer questions and provide support. If I have to compare the courses with those in Deggendorf, they were a little bit lighter as to contents. However, there were some new and interesting aspects to which attention was drawn. The many and different subjects I had to deal with provided me with a deeper insight into the studies.

I personally enjoyed the attitude of the lecturers and employers in the university, who all shared nice opinion about HDU and the students coming for an exchange semester every year from Deggendorf.

Betreuung vor Ort:
Rotterdam is a big city and therefore the subway usage is imminent. One can easily get to the university in max 30 min. Another good option is to buy a bike for 30-40 euros. It can be easily sold afterwards on the Facebook page called Commodity Market Rotterdam.

The prices are definitely higher compared to Germany. One should use a chip card in the university in order to buy stuff from the canteen. This chip card costs 22.50 euros and has 20 euros on it once you have bought it.

Accommodation varies but in general prices are between 350 - 450 euros. The residence in which I stayed was Robert Baelde Hall and I am personally satisfied with my life there for 4 months. Despite that, when moving in, the rooms were not cleaned properly at all.

Another important point is that, if you have not registered in the city hall (which you are not obligated to do in the case you stay there for less than 4 months, you need to inform the Student Housing on time so that you are able to receive your deposit back in the end of your stay in the dormitory.

Tipps:
Holland is a wonderful place to live! One should definitely visit Amsterdam, Delft and Den Hague. I enjoyed my time there to the fullest and met amazing people from all over the world - Spain, Finland, Russia, Brazil, Portugal, USA, etc. I even met a friend for life over there with whom I had amazing trips.

Although the courses were not really hard compared to Deggendorf, the students had the chance to get a lot of real-life experience and work on projects with existing companies. This is what I appreciate the most about the programme.

I am grateful for all the amazing opportunities I had there and I would not like to experience my semester abroad in any other way!
