Über die Universität:
The Metropolitan University Prague (MUP) is ranked among the oldest and largest private universities in the Czech Republic. It is located in a beautiful city with its own charm. Prague is also called 'the city of gold' or 'the city of hundreds of towers'. It is the capital and the largest city of the Czech Republic.
The University is also called 'University without barriers', what I find very good and which means that you will meet a few students or workers in a wheelchair who are really nice, helpful and friendly.
The university is not directly located in the center districts of Prague, but in a bit more remote district which is not a real problem, because traffic connections work really well and fast.
I have chosen an interesting combination of international relations and business subjects. You get the opportunity to choose not only bachelor but also master subjects.

The study programme is more school alike and debate based which means, you should be mostly prepared for the lectures and sign in in a paper of attendance. Your attendance, participation in group discussions or seminars, presentation results, essays etc. will influence the overall grade. So it is important to actively debate and to read the given articles on the so-called SIS-system, which is a data platform for students to download documents and articles for the given week, enrolling in exams and checking grades. The effort has to be given to read some of the texts which can be more than 10 to 20 pages for each lesson and to be prepared to debate about the current topics.
The professors are really friendly and the lecture groups are pretty small, so they have a good overview of each student. Lectures last 90 min. The lectures are held in an interesting way like by introducing up-to-date information of news or media sources.

Betreuung vor Ort:
One will get really early in contact with the coordinator of the International Office via email before arrival. She provides you with helpful information regarding dormitories, facilities etc. They provide you also with a buddy whom you can contact before arrival and who can help you out with several questions. Also locally you will be provided with a lot informative emails concerning events, trips and tours. It is recommendable to get along with some trips and tours, since you get the chance to see nice surroundings and main sights and furthermore you will get to know other Erasmus students from all over the world. The university also offered several language courses and a main Czech course.

Tipps:
You should definitely visit all nice main sights from old town to new town of Prague, but discover not only touristic centers of downtown but also other nice places. Try out typical food and enjoy different kinds of Czech beers. Be aware of the fact that the currency is crown and that you will pay mostly with crowns, but some bigger shopping malls will also accept euros. If you are interested you should try to learn basic Czech to communicate with the inhabitants to show respect and awareness.
All in all it was a really nice experience and I enjoyed discovering the city with its special flair.
