Über die Universität:
The number of people at just the Hogeschool alone is around 35,000, that's close to the amount of people living in all of Deggendorf! Not to mention, the Erasmus University is right next door, so there are always students everywhere. This can be a big shock on your first day, when you realize how different this place is. However, they have multiple business programs, so feel free to reach out to teachers or professors if you hear about a class that interests you. Even if it is not on the IBEX (Intern. Business Experience) or IBaC (Intern. Business and Career) program, they will try to help you sign up for the classes you really want to take. With that being said, don't worry if a class name doesn't sound interesting to you. The Dutch have a way of making all subjects interesting through their liberal teaching ways. There will always be a nice, lively discussion in the classroom, even in for example, "Strategic Management Accounting". It can be a little difficult to find the right people to talk to outside of the program you are taking, but in IBAC or IBEX faculty will be very helpful. In IBEX we were each assigned our own 'coach' who made sure we were doing okay throughout the semester.

Betreuung vor Ort:
It's up to you to decide what kind of housing you want and the only support I received there was online materials about availability. It would have been nice to read some reviews of the dorms or find out how other people liked living on or off campus. I thought the dorms would be expensive so I opted for a room in a private house on the other side of town. This was a really bad decision on my part because it was more expensive and far away from campus life. For that reason I felt a bit separated from my classmates all semester, who typically lived together in the same dormitory. I don't know how that was arranged, but I would suggest calling to ask where IBEX IBAC students are living to make sure you find a nice room. The U Building is awesome, clean, and cheap. The international house is older, not so clean, and very loud. Try to reach out to other students about housing to find out which dorm is best. I definitely wouldn't recommend living off campus unless you don't want to socialize!

Tipps:
Don't be shy and don't be offended easily. The Dutch are not afraid to speak their mind. Teachers and other students want to hear from you! Everyone's opinion is really valued equally in class and your ideas will contribute to the amount of learning accomplished by each student in that semester. Also go to class with an open mind and be willing to change your ideas a little when necessary to improve and become a better person. If you are open, you will take away so many wonderful lessons from this semester!
