Über die Universität:
For your exchange semester at the Hogeschool Rotterdam you can choose between two programmes called International Business Experience (IBEX) and International Business and Career (IBaC). I was attending the IBEX programme and there is a strong focus on marketing and finance topics in core modules such as Risk Management, Operations Management, Marketing Strategy, Business Skills, Strategic Finance and Strategic Marketing, Financial Management Accounting, Consultancy Project. Moreover, you have to choose at least 3 electives such as Cross Cultural Communication, The Long Tail, Stock Market Game, Elementary Dutch and Financial Accounting.
Overall the programme is not that hard and you can have really good grades in most of the subjects. The first part of the studies includes courses which require a written exam at the end of period 1, whereas in period 2 most exams are in the form of assignments and presentations and there is a one week break between the two periods. The IBEX programme contains a lot of group works, assignments and presentations during the lessons.

Betreuung vor Ort:
Make sure that you search your accommodation on time, because the housing market in Rotterdam is really tough. The easiest and cheapest option is to apply for a room at one of the dorms at SSH. The two dorms Erasmus International House and Robert Baelde Housing are both quite near to the university and the city centre. The Erasmus House is the bigger one and you have a beautiful view over the whole city on the terrace. Robert Baelde is the smaller one and so you know most of the other students which are living there. Both dorms are not in the best conditon and there will be things that you are unhappy with, but for the short four month period it is ok.
At the International Office and the university in general you can always ask for help if you need a signature or something else for your studies.

Tipps:
Buy a bike, because everthing is widely spaced and public transportation is quite expensive. But be careful, many bikes are stolen even if they are in really bad condition.
Rotterdam itself is a beautiful and interesting city where you can have a lot of fun and you will have more than enough time to enjoy it. I really recommend an exchange semester in Rotterdam.
