Universität:
Universidad San Jorge

Semester und Studiengang:
3. Semester Bachelor International Tourism Management / Health & Medical Tourism

Aufenthalt:
wintersemester 2016

Über die Universität:
The University has excellent and new buildings, it has around 2000 students. There is an International Student Association which was really helpful for all the Erasmus students. The international office has excellent staff and they solved any issues or problems really fast. The professors are good and the courses as well. There is a lot of work to do throughout the lecture period, every week you have assignments, presentations, case studies, which is an excellent way to learn, although exhausting at times.
Being private, the University San Jorge is different in some respects to public universities in Spain. I found the grading system a little confusing, you actually did not know exactly from which exams, presentations or assignments you get your final grade. Attendance is mandatory, you are allowed to miss only 20% of the lectures of each course. Some teachers are flexible and if you have a long weekend trip to another city it could be okay, but some other professors are really strict with attendance.

Betreuung vor Ort:
The staff for all the Erasmus students is very supportive and helpful. I got my accommodation independently searching on the internet. Already some months before you departure to Spain you can join Erasmus Facebook groups which will help you with these more practical matters.
I lived with local Spanish people in order to learn more about their culture and get some advise for activities, where to buy different things, and so on.

Tipps:
Taking into account that this university is outside Zaragoza (15 km), there is a really efficient university bus. Howeber, it costs 260 Euros for the entire semester to use this transfer opportunity.
As soon as you get an email from the International Student Association, follow their instructions to get a tutor, this person will help you with every question you have. They will even help you to find a room or apartment.
Some of the courses are in English, so if your Spanish is not that good you can still take courses in English, they also offer a Spanish course for beginners and intermediates.
