Über die Universität:
The Dokuz Eylül University is located in Izmir, one of Turkey´s biggest cities after Istanbul and Ankara. The University is allocated in different parts of the city, the biggest campus was build on a hill called Tinaztepe, which is in one of the cities outside districts, Buca. The campus is really big and there are own busses driving throughout the whole area during the day, also hitchhiking is a common way to get to your faculty. Within the campus there are many opportunities for leisure time, which can be used between classes or just to hang out with friends. Restaurants, cafes, markets for grocery shopping and an own cinema are available the whole day.
The Business Faculty courses are all given in English and studies are definitely easier than in Germany. One course consists of 2 parts, 90 minutes each. Other than in Germany, there are midterm exams, they determine 40 % of the final grade.

Betreuung vor Ort:
From the beginning of the Erasmus Mobility you always have someone to ask if you have any problems or questions. Especially the responsible person for foreign students Ms. Gecioglu was always there for us.
Other than the employees of the university every student will get help by a "buddy" who's is your personal contact person for further questions, e.g. taking you from the airport to your flat, explaining the cities infrastructure, showing the most awesome palaces, bars of the city. And they organize the best parties and a lot of trips to Turkey's most awesome attractions.
They also take care of your accommodation before you even arrive in the country.

Tipps:
Due to some incidents that happened recently in Turkey it´s natural that some might have concerns about studying in Turkey. But from my own experience I can tell that Izmir is safe and it would be very sad if one would decide not to study there because of everything that happened. Izmir is an awesome city, the natives are friendly and hospitable, the weather is splendid nearly the whole year and beautiful beaches are close by.

So if you want to have an awesome Erasmus experience, you really should think about going to Izmir.
