Über die Universität:
The Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB) is a big university with a spacious campus. It is close to the small town Cerdanyola de Valles and about 35 minutes by train from Barcelona.
Regarding the subjects I could enroll to five of six that were credited for my subjects I normally would have had in my 3rd semester in Pfarrkirchen.
Four of my five subjects were held in English and the fifth one in Castellano. Except for one subject it was possible to understand the professors, even in the Spanish subject. In addition to the five subjects I could register to a basic Catalan course that was free of charge.
What I liked very much about the university was, first of all, the offer of free language courses and furthermore two of my five subjects whose contents were very interesting. What I didn´t like about the university was the very schoolish university system. We always had to do some kind of homeworks and had to prepare a great amount of presentations even during the exam period in the last week before Christmas holidays. With all the work it sometimes was difficult to retain a clear view about when to submit which presentation or essay. It has to be mentioned that the amount of duties also had one good side: We learned a lot.

Betreuung vor Ort:
There was just one problem at the beginning of the semester. All Erasmus students didn´t have access to the content of the subjects that was provided via the Internet. But Mr. Vancells, the coordinator for exchange students, fixed our problem and after going to the "International Welcome Point" which is located at a big square called "Placa Civica" we were immatriculated. Only after going to this "International Welcome Point", Mr Albert Vancells could enroll us to the classes. He always was very cooperative and thanks to him every administrative question could be solved.

Additionally to the administrative stuff that had to be done for the university half a year before the beginning of the semester abroad, I also had to get an accommodation.
I came to Barcelona without having an accommodation. Due to friends I got a room in the center of Barcelona. Getting a cheap accommodation in Barcelona is very difficult. I recommend to search for rooms early before the start of the semester. On average a room costs from 350€ to 500€. Web pages like fotocasa.es, idealista.com and rentroombarcelona.com offer an amount of appartments. A fellow student of mine got her room via rentroombarcelona. There are also appartments on the campus but those are quite expensive and you have to travel a lot until being in the impressive city Barcelona. So, I recommend staying in the city.

Tipps:
I recommend everyone who lives in the city and who is under the age of 23 to buy the transportation ticket "T-Jove" for 2 zones (the university is located in zone 2). In combination with your identification card it is valid for 90 days and can be bought for a price of about 144€ at every ticket machine in the metro stations. With this ticket you can use every means of transportation except for taxis and the airport buses "A1" and "A2".
To get to the university you have to either use the Ferrocarrils S2 from Plaza de Catalunya to Sabadell or the S55 from Plaza de Catalunya to Universitat Autonoma. The train station at the faculty of tourism is called "Bellaterra" and the one of the main campus "Universitat Autonoma".
