wintersemester 2016

Über die Universität:
I chose to study Comercio International at the TEC Milenio because it has a really good reputation in Mexico and South America. The University is modern and well equipped, it is a small Campus which enables you to meet people. It has the newest technology, wifi everywhere and even a gym.
The woman who looks after the international students is incredible helpful! I struggled a bit with Spanish in the beginning, but you learn the language really quickly as your lessons are mainly in Spanish. The teachers were cool with us and didn't expect too much from us as we are international students. You are only allowed to miss up to two weeks of your lectures.
The only negative detail about the TEC Milenio is that there is no cantine on the campus, but you can find a few places opposite the Uni where you can eat. And also the level of studies is quite low, nothing compared to our level at the THD. You will have a lot of homework, but since the level is low, it's okay…

Betreuung vor Ort:
At first I lived in a house which I got through the contact at the TEC Milenio and it really wasn't good. The rent was way too expensive for the place and the landlord wasn't honest and fair. It was a shared appartment (WG) with three other Germans and we had problems like no water, no internet, tiles from the floor were breaking etc. It was situated in an area that wasn't nice to live anyway. I managed to move after a while and found a really good place, everything was perfect, landlord, room, location!

Tipps:
Everything is a slower in Mexico and everything is made for short term, so be patient. If you are not, you'll learn to become it. But then also, everything is possible. Through contacts or really nice attitude, you can get things you wouldn't expect to get in other countries. Mexicans are very friendly and welcoming but often see us as money bags, so be aware of it and never trust them too much. What we consider as lying here in Europe is not lying in Mexico, so they have a different version of honesty, just keep that in mind.
Cancun is a nice place to study because it's safe and has beautiful beaches. And yet, it can become boring sometimes so take time to travel. The area around Cancun (Riviera Maya) is absolutely beautiful. It's cheaper for students to travel thanks to the student card.
Mexico is a beautiful country I can only recommend!
