Über die Universität:
The university of Trento is rather big (with app. 16,000 students) and it a has many international students, for special importance has been given to the international dimension of the university ever since its first years. It is ranked first among Italian public and medium sized universities.
The university of Trento is well known in Italy due to ist great department of economics. The university has constant visits from international personalities around the world that come to speak about different economic aspects. There are a lot of different departments around Trento, and economics is just situated in the city centre.
The central library of the University of Trento is composed of different buildings (in each Faculty) where students can consult books or borrow them, study or use the internet, with long opening hours (even until midnight), open Saturday and Sunday.
Betreuung vor Ort:
With the Welcome Office, the University supports international students and researchers in the administrative procedures connected with their arrival and stay in Trento and gives information as regards the modalities and documentation needed to enroll. The International Office helped with any problems you have regarding the learning agreement or any other questions. However, they only open Mondays and Wednesdays which makes it a bit hard for students to contact them.
In collaboration with the Opera Universitaria, Trento University offers 1500 accommodations in the San Bartolomeo Campus, in student residences or flats that have special agreements with the university. Most of the rooms and flats offered by the the Opera Universitaria are quite far from the city centre and that is why I wasnt interested in moving into there and prefered to look for a private apartment. I started looking for private accommodation before summer so it wasnt really hard, but I recommend to start early as there are a lot of students searching for rooms.
The International Office offers different types of activities and trips for students to visit the area.
Tipps:
I opted for all my courses in English and the level is really good.
In Trento students start studying since the beginning of the semester so they do not party a lot. So if you are looking for a place with a vivid party life maybe Trento will not be your place, but if you like travelling and nature it may be the right place.
Trento has a different way of applying for exams so you have to be careful with that.
It was a great experience and I managed to travel a lot with the university and alone. So I highly recommend this university.
