Universität:
Kookmin University, Seoul

Semester und Studiengang:
5. Semester Bachelor International Management

Aufenthalt:
summersemester 2017

Über die Universität:
The university itself is a great place. The campus is quite big and spacious with a lot of school clubs and sports opportunities to participate in. The study depends on the classes which you are taking. Usually the professors are very fluent in English and the understanding is good. The students are required to participate in the class regularly, as this will be part of the grade formation at the end of the semester.
There will be a mid term exam period, which will be based on the information taken to this point in the lectures. All in all, the university and the study there is quite good and I enjoyed it. In fact Kookmin University and Korea was amazing and the right choice for me. Everyone who will go there will have a very enjoyable semester.

Betreuung vor Ort:
The international office was helpful and also assisted the students with the registration in the classes. They organized busses for the international students from the airport to the required dorms. They helped us with the immigration office and registration for the Alien cards. However, they could improve in one aspect, as our getting together party with the Korean students and the other exchange people was two months after the semester started. And they could inform earlier that not everyone will get a place in the campus dormitories, so that we could find much cheaper alternatives than the once provided by them.

Tipps:
My advice for future Kookmin students is to make sure and ask if you are going to be placed in the campus dorms or the off-campus dorms, as the Medical check up list, which is quite expensive in Germany, is only for the campus dorms.
The supermarket food in Korea is much more expensive than in Europe, that may come as a shock to you in the beginning.
Regarding the culture, Koreans are very friendly and they are always willing to help you. However, they might be too shy to speak up first, so you should be ready to take the first step of the conversation.

To sum up, Kookmin University and Korea was one of the greatest experiences in my life.
